I love when I hear people everywhere (namely great grandmothers in Publix) talk about how Zella is currently at their favorite age. Clearly quite a few drinks have been consumed between when they were raising a 4 month old and the present day. I just can’t agree, so I nod and smile thinking “why don’t you take her for a while and give her back at the 6 month mark?”
Every one of the kids has gone through a 4 month sleep regression of sorts. Zella has not skipped this phase either, but she happens to have regressed in a far more horrible way. Where many kids, if not most, wake up in the middle of the night, eat, and then fall back asleep within some fairly short period of time, Zella has decided that is just not her jam. She sleeps for long stretches, which I am thankful for, but I dread the moment she wakes to eat.
I’ll feed her, rock her, do anything I can to get that child to go back down, but the second you think she is asleep and you try to place her really anywhere…cradle, Nap Nanny (what recall?), rock ‘n play, bouncer, swing, Rockaroo…BAM! She is wide awake and shrieking. At this point it typically takes anywhere between 30 and 90 minutes for her to fall back asleep. Did I mention that during this duration of time you absolutely MUST be standing? Yes. Zella knows nothing good can happen when someone is sitting in a rocking chair while holding her. Standing is apparently the only way to go.
I am over it.
The end.
